Hey, happy new year!

Well, I’m not particularly fond of new year celebrations and the like, but I thought I’d post something. Four days left and I leave home again for Singapore. Oh well.

Oh god. Just when I thought the photography lust has left me, I’m suddenly finding myself drooling over the new Olympus E-300 Evolt DSLR.

Damnet. I’m going to be sooooo broke.

Well after planning so many different trips to different places, it looks like I’m gonna end up coming home instead. Which isn’t so bad because I can think of a lot of things I can do when I’m at home.

That, and I do need the time off from work, life and everything else in general. Maybe even UO.

Soooo… anyone up for some coffee, dinner or out of town trips while I’m in town? :D

Well, I’m getting an influx of spammer comments, so I’m gonna have to moderate comments for now. So dont be surprised if your comment doesn’t show up right away. Apologies for the inconvenience.

I didn’t get to go to any Halloween parties, but at least I got to participate in some Halloween madness – on Ultima Online anyway.

Over at the Mizuho shard, where I’ve started a new character so I could join a friend in his adventures over there, people set up a small counter by West Britain Bank and sold pumpkins. Too bad I forgot to take screenshots of those. :-/

At my home shard, Pacific, the weekly-held Black Market Exchange auctions sponsored a Halloween costume contest. Some of the entries were pretty creative and funny. I laughed the funniest when I saw this one by the Guildmaster of the House of Targaryen (too bad I lost the darn paperdoll screenshot… *sniff*):

Now, for anyone of you who do not play Ultima Online, you will probably not understand the humor in his costume. But for those who do, can you guess what his costume is supposed to be? :-)

It’s called “Bank-sitting Trammie”. LOL!

Here are a few more screenshots of people’s “costumes”. Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, I was using my 2D client then as the sheer amount of people present during these auctions can tax my 3D card performance pretty badly.

I was not able to participate in the contest because I only found out about it when I got to the BME house for the auction. Too bad. :-/ I remember walking around Haven once with a good friend costumed as Savages just for the heck of it.

The spirit of Halloween was pretty alive in Pacific, as even the Game Masters (GMs) showed up as monsters! They are usually human, clothed in some gold-trimmed hooded robe thingie.

While we were farming Water Elementals in Ilshenar, Belial Lavi told me that some GMs were paged to handle some players who were cheating over at Yew in Felucca. He showed me a screenshot of one of them appearing as a Balron, so I got really curious and decided to page a GM – only to greet them Halloween and to say that if any of them happen to be in Ilshenar, that Belial and I would love to see their funky costume.

After a few minutes, a Unicorn came to greet us by the name of Sparkle!

GM Sparkle greeted us a happy Halloween and even morphed into a Bog Thing and one of those big, evil spider creatures. I thought that was pretty cool.

Later in the day, Belial encountered a problem with another player harrassing him, so he paged a GM while we were in Haven. At first, the GM was only visible to him (this is normally how it works when players page GMs for help), but when I asked him what costume the GM was in, GM Sorif made himself visible to us, and manifested as a Balron.

Unlike GM Sparkle though, I actually managed to bring up this GM’s paperdoll. He hued himself red! Dammit, *I* want to hue myself red…. oh well!

After the excitement of having a Balron-formed GM in Haven died down, Belial decided he wanted to look like Charlton, Haven’s official Town Crier. So I got on my tailor (who is always in costume as a Savage, btw) and tried to re-create the clothes he was wearing.

Belial went AFK though, then everyone got bored so we decided we’d wear the town crier costume as well. And yes, we were as useless as Charlton, in the sense that we did not have any news at that time either. :-D

This is my ridgeback wondering what the heck was going on:

Well, at least I had some virtual Halloween fun! :-)
